{Gift} A Self-love meditation

{Gift} Self-love Mediation.png

Soooo....I totally wanted to have this lovely gift for you in the form of a recorded guided meditaiton ready on the blog today...

But that didn't work out quite right.

Guided meditations are something I've only recently started to enjoy, and I plan on sharing more about this in a meditation post that is in the works, but let's just say that I wasn't their biggest fan for a while and things change.

So I had this grand idea when I was creating the February self-care calendar to include a self-love meditation for today, in hopes that I could push myself outside of my comfort zone and try something new.

THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN.

I've never recorded a "legit" meditation before, with a soft voice and music in the background and the whole package. I tried, and it's not that easy.

But in the nature of self-love, I am not being hard on myself because I am trying something new, and the best way to show myself love and compassion in this moment is to practice a concept I love from yoga: "beginner's mind"

Beginner's mind is a buddhist concept of openness, and a willingness to practice without letting your thoughts and perceptions get in the way so that you can immerse yourself in a task the way you would the very first time: with open eyes, an open heart, and an eagerness to learn something.

Basically I'm not giving up! I am allowing myself the space to be a newbie at recordings, and I will continue to work on it this week, and hopefully it will be ready by the time the next Bliss Note arrives in your inbox!

But I can still give you a gift!

Below is the script of the self-love meditation that I created for you :)

You can record this meditation in your own voice as this can help you relax into the flow of the meditation, and allow your mind and your body to fully absorb the energy of your words.

(I use the voice memo app on my iPhone!)

Before you begin, come to a comfortable seated position. This can be on a chair with your feet on the ground, sitting upright on a cushion with your feet crossed, or laying on your back with your legs bent so that your feet rest on the ground.

Here is where you start recording:

I begin this meditation by breathing. Allowing my breath to flow in and out at my normal rhythm. I begin to notice the movement of my body as my lungs expand with air, as my belly contracts as I exhale.

On this next inhale, I hold my breath for a moment longer before I exhale, allowing all of the air to flow out of my lungs. I continue this breathing cycle for the next four complete breathes, breathing in completely, holding the breath for a moment, and then allowing all of the air to flow out of my lungs.

(allow space in your recording for breathing at your own pace)

In this mediation I will be bringing my attention to love over and over again. As I sit with myself and breath, I will continue to be open to love.

Thoughts may come into my mind, and that is okay. As they arrive, I will say “I love you” and observe as they float away.

“I love you”

(wait 10 seconds)

“I love you”

(wait 10 seconds)

“I love you”

(wait 10 seconds)

On my next inhale, I bring my hands to rest over my stomach. Breathing in completely, I know that I love myself. As I exhale completely, I know that I love myself. As I feel my hands move with each breath, I know that I love myself.

(wait 10 seconds)

With each breath, I know that I love myself.

(wait 10 seconds)

with each breath, I know that I love myself.

On my next inhale, I bring my hands to rest over my heart. As I breath in, I feel my lungs, chest, and heart expand and I know that I love myself. As I exhale completely, I feel as I am wrapping myself in a hug, and I know that I love myself.

(wait 10 seconds)

With each breath in, I know that I love myself. as I exhale, I know that I am wrapped in love.

(wait 10 seconds)

As I breath in, I love myself, as I exhale, I am wrapped in love.

(wait 10 seconds)

As I breath, I am repeating these words:

  • I love myself, I am wrapped in love
  • I love myself, I am wrapped in love
  • I love myself, I am wrapped in love

(wait 1-2 minutes)

  • I love myself, I am wrapped in love
  • I love myself, I am wrapped in love

As I sit here wrapped in this feeling of love, I start to notice

(wait 5 seconds)

the love that surrounds me

the love that radiates from me

the warmth of my hands on my heart

(wait 5 seconds)

As I breathe in, I allow my hands to come and rest in a comfortable position in my lap,

(wait 5 seconds)

I am continuing to breath in the warmth of my love surrounding me and as I exhaul radiating love from my being out into the world.

(wait 10 seconds)

I take one more breathe in, completely holding it for a moment, and as i exhale, I exhale love.

This self-love meditation  can be used at any time of the day. You can start your morning routine with this meditation, give yourself a loving reminder during the day, or bring your evening to a close.
